DISTRIBUTION CERT is the title for series of projects which are aiming to insure skilled labour within electrical network engineering in Finland,
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
The electrical network engineering field both in Finland and in the Baltic countries is suffering from a lack of competent network electricians and the need will only increase in the next few years as more and more network electricians retire. In addition to this, companies in the field in all of these countries currently employ a large number of network electricians who are not formally qualified to perform all tasks required by the profession.
Both the Distribution Cert 1 – project (2008 – 2010) and its successor, Distribution Cert 2 – project (2010 – 2012), are based on these existing practical needs. After the Baltic countries joined the European Union, there is an increasing need for co-operation between electrical network companies and other actors in the sector, such as trade organisations, in Finland and the Baltic states.
