Why are D.C. - PROJECTS needed?
Studies carried out during Distribution Cert 1 – project indicated that there are numerous obstacles that hinder co-operation. One of the most important obstacles is the lack of uniform, verifiable vocational skills among network electricians.
The partners of Distribution Cert 1 – project came to the conclusion that the only way to harmonise the vocational skills and qualifications of network electricians and to make possible an extensive cross-border co-operation between the countries in question is to specify the necessary skills and qualifications, to establish harmonised vocational education systems and practices, to make it possible to organise the training courses designed to lead to a uniform skills level, and to establish a system of recognising the competences and qualifications.
The Distribution Cert 1 - project established a theoretical framework designed to overcome this obstacle through harmonising the vocational skills. The project lead to the establishment of a multinational (Finland, Estonia, Latvia) study programme. To complete this programme, the student will have to meet the vocational skills requirements specified in the programme and be able to demonstrate this in practice. These requirements as well as the curriculum have been established as a result of extensive co-operation with enterprises from the respective countries and under guidance by the various project partners.
The ongoing Distribution Cert 2 - project is needed because it will first of all make it possible to involve all of the Baltic counties, including Lithuania, in the co-operation, and secondly because it will be possible to test and further develop the outcome of the Distribution Cert 1 - project. This will be done in extensive pilot training courses in each participating country.
